Weekend recap round up

Weekend recap round up

Well good morning. Hopefully everyone had a nice weekend

Friday:

My dog was whining and barking like the annoying like shit she is (mostly kidding, she was just hyper) so we went for a walk. You can’t really tell in this picture, but I have on my Uggs which I so wish were still acceptable to wear past the age of 14. #RIP. Also necessary was my green tea.

Here she is trying to get as far away from me as possible.

I spent a good majority of my Friday sitting at a Starbucks working on blog work, school work, and some job work. It was such a nice day outside so it was a little painful to have to sit inside and work but what the hell do you expect? Shit won’t get done by itself haha.

The three of us (okay mostly me) ended up watching the new Cinderella that night! I might be biased because Cinderella is my favorite princess, but I loved the movie. The other two did agree that it was “cute” and “good” Bed followed shorty after that.

Saturday:

I had my first post marathon run! I love October running so so much. I did a 50 minute run without my Garmin on, so I have no clue what my pace or distance was. I’m guessing around 5 miles though.

IMG_1019

I then headed to my dad and stepmom’s house so we could drive down to IU for some football tailgating! Glorious weather, jello shots, family and friends, great food and beer… what more could I ask for? I also got to see some of one of best friends who goes to school there! All in all it was a fun day spent with fun people.

I was pretty tired when we got home, but was determined for one thing. Frozen yogurt.

This is vanilla, coconut, and cake batter with one walnut on top eaten in bed of course.

Except it was too much and I felt sick afterwards whoops. I fell asleep shortly after that.

Sunday:

I knew I wanted to get another run in, but getting out of my warm bed was no small feat.

Eventually I did get another Garmin-less run in! It was 70 minutes and I’m guessing around 7 miles.

The rest of normal Sunday activities happened consisting of errands, homework, making chili and watching football and checking fantasy all day.

All leading up to the Colts Patriots game! It’s been a nervous and anxious day around these parts, but sadly the Colts lost : (

I hope you guys had a nice weekend, too! Make it a great day.

Labor day weekend round up

Although Tuesdays are my least favorite day of the week, officially starting this short week off on a Tuesday makes it not so bad!

Friday:

Whew. I felt like I was go go go all day Friday. It started off early with a 5 am 13 mile training run. After the run, I treated myself (like I do after every run…) to a gas station Diet Coke! The thought of Diet Coke got me through the last few miles haha.

After a quick shower and smoothie, I headed to the library, the drug store and then to the bank. While I was out, I got a call from a friend asking if I could go pick them up from the car dealership and take them back to their house.

Shortly after getting home from that, I had to take my dog to an appointment. So much driving!

Later on at night, the three of us met my aunt & uncle for a baseball game downtown! We ended up leaving during the 4th inning, because we thought it was going to start raining (again), and didn’t want to get wet all over again. All in all, it was fun to just hang out do something a little different.

Saturday:

I also started my Saturday morning with a 5 mile run, because if I don’t run on a Saturday then what is life?!

Then my mom and I took off for downtown again to meet up with my aunts (again!) for doughnuts and breakfast. We started with doughnuts and coffee and then went to a chicken and waffles restaurant. The doughnuts were just okay (they were vegan so I don’t know if that’s why I wasn’t crazy about them), but the chicken and waffles were awesome.

On our way home, we ran to Jo Ann’s and CVS for some quick pick ups. Once arriving home, I immediately took off for my best friends house who was home for labor day! I didn’t stay too long, because I had to get home to work on some homework. Bleh.

I made it up to myself with pizza for dinner and hanging out with some friends.

Sunday:

More errands! This time it was Kroger and to Goodwill.

It was such a beautiful day around here though, so we went down to the neighborhood pool as soon as we got home! It was so sunny out and just perfect.

We had a nice family dinner and then I went to my best friends house to hang out.

Monday:

I don’t remember ever having as lazy of a day as I did yesterday!

I read in bed for 2 hours when I woke up, worked on a friends birthday present, gave him said present, watched tennis, and read some more! Highly unproductive and a highly lazy day.

Some days it just needs to happen!

I hope you guys also had a great 3 day weekend!

Weekend Recap

Good Monday morning!

Just kidding. Screw Mondays. And honestly, screw Tuesdays, too. Both of those days kind of suck.

What did you guys do this weekend? I had a really nice weekend and am sad that it is over now. Anyways, here’s what went down!

Saturday:

My morning started with an early wake up call to get my 20 (!!!) mile run in. My kind mama met up with me at mile 11 and rode along with me for the remaining 9. It was a really good run, you know, for as good as a 20 mile run can be. The hardest part was miles 16-18 because I knew I was close, but it still felt so far away. And at this point, I just was bored. Like I had already been running for 3 hours and just wanted to do something else! I’m going to do at least another 20 miler (I’m contemplating going up to 22) so having gotten through one, makes me optimistic for my next one.

After a shower, a smoothie, and some Food Network, I drove down to school and did a little work and returned some books. I hated having to go to school on a Saturday, but the lack of people there was refreshingly nice.

Once I got home, the rest of the day was spent sitting on the couch and just watching tv. Usually I’m super hungry on long run days, but I just was not hungry at all and even the thought of food just was really unappetizing. It was very disappointing haha.

After a while though it was time to get ready, because my brother, one of his friends and I were going to the Justin Moore and Brad Paisley concert! It was such a fun night! Brad Paisley seriously put on a great show! We got home close to midnight, and I promptly fell asleep.

Sunday:

Sleeping in until 9 am was such a glorious feeling and I laid in bed and read Grey. What can I say? That series is a guilty pleasure Winking smile

I ventured downstairs eventually for some coffee, eggs and a bowl of cereal, only then to return to bed and watch The Dark Knight.

Eventually once I looked outside, I realized it was a gorgeous day! So I put on my swimming suit and walked down to our neighborhood pool. I am currently reading Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead. I am about 1/3 of the way through, and it is pretty good so far!

Later on in the evening, I put on the last IndyCar race of the season! It was an awesome race, and the fact that it was the last one was huge in terms of points and standings and who ultimately would win the IndyCar Championship Series.

Dinner was shrimp, green beans, and a frozen bag of quinoa. Simple, easy, and delicious.

Now I am seriously craving frozen yogurt. I think that is going to happen sometime soon…

Enjoy the rest of your day! I hope it is sunny where ever you may be Smile

Monday makes me random

Monday, Monday, Monday. Actually I’m pumped about today, because of the weather delay in Scotland, The Open is on today! I know what I’m doing all day…

How was your weekend? Holy hell was it hot here. Between the humidity and the actual heat, it felt like you could cut the air with a knife it was so thick.

Because of said humidity and heat, I started my run at 5:15 on Saturday morning. Woof.

My day actually started on a productive note because of golf. I usually sit on my porch with breakfast and coffee until 10:30-11 and then workout around 11:30-12. But I didn’t want to miss the tee times this morning so I got my workout in way earlier than usual! Go Len.

I did 5 rounds of tabatas that focused my legs. Sumo squats with alternating leg raises, single leg squats, side lunges, reverse lunge, and squats. Followed with some ab work. Short and sweet but highly effective. My buns can attest to that.

TMI.

I also started a load of laundry!

Okay so this post was all over the place. But why are you reading if you expected something else?

Apparently I’m sassy on Mondays.

Ok. Bye now.

Scenes from the weekend

Scenes from the weekend

Hello hello! How are we doing this Monday Wednesday morning? Hopefully you guys have been getting some sunshine like we have been, too!

Friday:

My best friend came over on Friday night and we played tennis! It was so. hot. outside. So we jumped in the pool afterwards!

Saturday:

I had my first long training run for marathon training. 10 miles done by 8:15! I love feeling so accomplished so early in the morning.

Then like a champ, I walked into the grocery store and bought two cases of beer. 10 miles and 2 cases of beer all accomplished by 8:30 am. Go me.

My mom and I wondered down to the pool and laid out for a while.

I had to start getting ready though, because my brother, my best friend, and his little brother were going to the Indy Eleven game, which is the local minor league soccer team here in Indy. My stepmom gave me tickets for my birthday and the game was a lot of fun!

I dropped my brother off and we headed back to my friends house for kabobs, fire pits, and just hanging out.

Sunday:

Welp now that it’s Wednesday, I can’t remember what I did!

Once again. Go me.

Geist Half Marathon Recap

Good morning! I’m not going to lie, I am in a pretty good mood this morning, because this is my last Monday of work! I haven’t talked about it really at all, but I leaving my job as a legal assistant and I am very excited and very ready to move on.

Anyways, the real reason you’re here, for the recap!

I had initially signed up for the inaugural 10k, but was kind of thinking about moving up to the half. It really was depending on what the weather was going to be and how much it was going to cost to move up. Well, the weather was going to be shaky regardless so that didn’t sway me much. When I was at the expo and asked how much it would be to move up, the kind woman told me she’d do it for free! She said that since so many people had already downgraded from the half to the 10k, she would happily upgrade me! I was so so appreciative for her to do that for me, it really was kind.

IMG_0544

So half marathon it was! This race last year was actually the first half marathon I had ever run! Ahh how far I have come with my running.

Moving on. My alarm went off at 4:30 am. I hate feeling rushed on race morning, so I tend to get up way earlier than I need to. I left the house at 6:00 and went to my dad’s house, since he lives 5 minutes from the start line. My dad and stepmom dropped me off at 6:40 and I was in the corrals at 6:45. Boom easy peasy.

The official start time was 7:04 so I wasn’t waiting around for too long

Since I had signed up for the half, at the very last minute, I told myself to take it slow, slow, slow. If I was over 2 hours that was ok. And more importantly, I told myself just to have fun!!

I started out behind two older women and was having them pace me for a while. I eventually went ahead of them, because I felt really good. This course also is not a flat course, so considering I felt good on the hills was very exciting for me : )

I literally couldn’t believe it when we passed mile marker 4! Like miles 1-3 just flew. Then all of a sudden, bam it was mile marker 6. My mental hurdle in this race was to get to mile 8 and then all I had to do was race 5 miles. I also meant to take my gel chew at mile 8, but forgot (I’ve never forgotten to eat like what), so I ate my chew at mile 9 instead.

The last 5k of the race was hilly hilly hilly. I still felt really good though so I continued to push my pace and actually thought I might PR…

Alas I didn’t but I was seriously so proud of my time! 1:55:18. This is 9 minutes faster than my time last year!

Overall it was a GREAT race. My mindset going into the race was 100% the way I need to approach every race. No pressure, no expectations, just trying to have fun! The course support with volunteers was unbelievable, I can’t begin to thank everyone who came out to help us! I’m definitely going to be back for my third time next year!

Scenes from the weekend

Good morning and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a relaxing and restful weekend with lots of attention being paid to our mothers, grandmas, and mamas to be!

I had a pretty low key weekend, which is just the way I like it!

Friday-

Knowing that I had a test the next day, I just took a low key night and didn’t do much.

That was a partial lie.

I actually cannot remember for the life of me what I did, so I’m sticking with WAIT. I remember something. I ended up going for a nice 5.5 mile run.

Saturday-

My body naturally woke up at 6 am. Yay.

So I headed over to my dad’s and went for a short bike ride and walk around his neighborhood.

Since I had MY LAST final at 1 o’clock, I headed home so I could shower.

Wham bam, took my final and hung out with my best friend for a little bit afterwards. We grabbed a Starbucks and then went walking on the canal.

Later, I had rented a Redbox (Foxcatcher), but just couldn’t get into it, so I started reading my ebook.

Sunday-

I slept into 7:15 this morning yeah!! I enjoyed 2 cups of coffee, and a smoothie a little later on.

I did a quick strength workout, that actually got me pretty sweaty.

Here’s a picture of my lunch.

IMG_1049

Then my mom and I did a little bit of shopping. I almost bought a pineapple dress.

Then I cooked dinner for the woman of the day and we all just hung out!

I had a GREAT WEEKEND considering I am finally finished with school for the summer!

Except now I’m panicking that I am halfway done with college. WTF.
